Subway and Art part II

Posted by baconbach on March 26, 2009

So this takes a different, but still much appreciated take on subway and art. It is from our friends over at Improv Everywhere. Their latest mission is to have an art show in a NY subway. It wasn’t my favorite but it is worth checking out.

Instead of posting the video here I want to give credit to those who did it. So head over to their web site and check them out! My favorite at the moment is Ted’s birthday.

Someone brought this random gem of a you tube clip to my attention after my last post.  Well this song pretty much says it all.

Subway and Art?

Posted by baconbach on March 23, 2009

This is part one of my two part Subway comment.

Big brother worked for subway for a long time and I recall quite well that he was a “Sandwich Artist”. I am pretty sure it used to be right on the name tags under the name. What the frak happened them?

Personally, I think they quit being artists when they changed the way they cut the bread. I think it also goes without saying that I do not have to list ALL the advantages of the old way. (I will gladly list them if you ask) I used to wonder if anyone besides me any more even remember the old way they cut the bread? It was the best! It clearly gave them the edge over all the other sandwich places.

For the last few years when I ask for them to cut it the old way the workers just look at me like im stupid.  When I try to explain it they just don’t get it and say “I didn’t even know there was an old way”. (that is a real quote from a nameless Subway employee) Really kid? Yes there was an old way– it tasted better, looked better, and pull up your pants!

But I digress. I tdidn’t mean for this to turn into a rant like Denis Leary in lock and load. The point of this story wasn’t to complain about the stupid kid, but to give thanks that there is still at least one last Sandwich Artist out there. Not only did he know about the old way, but he did it for me and assured me that he liked it like this too! So here is a tip of my hat to you Sandwich Artist. Keep up the good work!

Dreams

Posted by baconbach on March 18, 2009

Have you ever wake up from a dream and whatever emotion you were feeling? You know have a dream where your mad and you wake up mad? Well the other day I woke up very very angry and frustrated because of a dream.

Yeah I know that there is no way that you can tell someone about your dream and not sound completely crazy, but I thought some people might enjoy this.

Me and Big Brother were trapped in this building and we had to find clues and use things in the 4 rooms to get out, but we had a time limit (i am not sure what was going to happen if we didn’t but it was bad!) And my dad looked the answer up on his cell phone, but we didn’t want his help at first. And then when we were running out of time  and I couldn’t get the pressure on the air gun right he decided not to help us. So not only was I trying to get him to help but all these other people (freinds and family) were just ok with letting the time run out and that bad thing happen.  I was pretty ticked when I woke up for like 15 minutes.
BTW I guess I could have explained that I was playing some of these games the other day..

Movie Review/ Graphic novels

Posted by baconbach on March 17, 2009

The Watchmen: I just have to say though that I loved this movie!

First off I don’t want to be a spoiler for this movie so you will not find any plot elements here.

I think that the movie was so well done in every way. Plot, writing, cinematography, acting everything just came together so well. I really appreciate movies like this. It stayed true to the real meaning of the graphic novel, dispite certain …changes. Movies like this still give credit to the artistic nature of graphic novels.  I think they are great combination of written and picture media.

I have been in a lot of conversations about this because recently “The Onion’s” book club had the Watchmen as a book. I think alot of people would agree with me that there is so much bias towards this form of art that lots of people miss out on some great things.

Anyhow I think I digressed… The movie was fraking awesome!!!

Shamwow Snuggie

Posted by baconbach on March 4, 2009

I recently got myself a shamwow. I mean how could you not want one?!?!?!

Well then I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a Snuggie made out of a Shamwow!!!! Well this was sent to me today at work.

“Apparently, someone already has made a sham-wow snuggie”

There was a Baltimore Snuggie Bar Crawl yesterday. It was … interesting. There were Star Wars Snuggies, Sham-wow Snuggies, homemade Snuggies.

Z-Day update

Posted by baconbach on March 4, 2009

Just an update on my ZAP… I just now have finished WWZ and really enjoyed the book.

I think my favorite part was the college kids who held up in the school because for the longest time I thought that I could do something similar at my favorite Big 10 School.

This is also promting me to realize just how imporant a CB radio is. Because they are going to be the only form of long distance communication. I think that it is going be inserted into steps 1 or 2.

My plan is a work in progress so thanks for the comments!

The Snuggie

Posted by baconbach on March 3, 2009

So a little while back I gave Sum Dogg a Snuggie. And I must say the Snuggie, as a product, is awesome! I even saw someone wearing one at Bockfest!

As with anything once you learn a little bit about it, then you find out that there is a whole new world that you didn’t even know existed. So here it is.. I found out that there is a Snuggie Bar Crawl in Chicago! That is right, there is going to be a bar crawl of people wearing Snuggies! I think that if we had a few friends get together it would be a blast!

But then I had a big idea. Maybe it would be more fun if I got a group of friends togather and we did a Slanket bar crawl right behind the Snuggie people. Because I have never actually seen a Slanket I cannot make a decision about which one is better. You know I am not even entirely sure all the differences between the two.

I admit that having two rivals doing bar crawls could be trouble between the two groups, but I see it as a way to build a bridge between the Snuggie and Slanket so that this doesn’t become a war that rages on for eternity like Pirate and Ninjas.

p.s. we all know what side I am on this battle…Ninjas are better then Pirates!

Bockfest

Posted by baconbach on March 2, 2009

Yesterday (Feb 28) was Capital Brewery’s Bockfest.  Without a doubt it has jumped on to the list of official Baconbach Holidays. It is the official release of the Blonde Dopplebock beer each year, which happens to be my favorite beer.

Capital’s Bockfest is a spring and ice fishing celebration combined.  It takes place in the brewery\’s beer garden with beer and live music, but has several unique traditions. The first one is the annual 1K ”Running of the Blondes”. I’m not promising anything but next year I might want to be one of them…

The real highpoint though is when Capital Brewmaster Kirby Nelson  (resident genius) arrives on the roof of the brewery riding a green dinosaur. He then proceeds to throw smoked chubs to the thousands below.

After trying to write this I just realized that it is nearly impossible to actually express what Bockfest is all about. So I will just sum up by saying it is like the Matrix.. You can’t be told what it is, you have to experience it for yourself.
